Start from a pair that already fits you
This is the most reliable and the fastest method. Take a pair you enjoy wearing, lay it flat, and measure three things: the waist width from edge to edge, the hip width at the widest point, and the inseam, from the crotch seam to the hem. Write those three numbers down. They will serve you for every future order, with us and elsewhere.
Taking your body measurements
If you do not have a reference pair, measure yourself directly, over thin clothing. The waist is measured at the narrowest point of the torso. The hips are measured at the fullest point. Keep the tape level and do not pull it tight.
Then compare those measurements to our size chart. That is the reference that counts, not the size printed in a pair bought five years ago from another brand.
Brands do not all size the same way
We carry Pentagone, Levi's, Guess, Lois, Projek Raw, Silver and Mavi among others. The same marked size can fall differently from one brand to the next, and that is perfectly normal. Two different fits within the same brand may also sit differently, because the ease built into them is not the same.
This is why measurements are a better guide than habit.
Read the composition before deciding
The fabric changes the fit as much as the cut does. Denim containing some elastane follows movement and forgives a closer fit. Rigid denim holds its shape and gives very little. The exact composition is listed on every product page, and it is worth reading before choosing between two sizes.
Between two sizes, which one?
A few simple guidelines.
If the denim is rigid and you fall between two sizes, the larger one is often the more comfortable choice.
If the denim is stretch, the smaller one can work, provided you are comfortable sitting down.
If you are unsure about a wide leg or a flare, prioritise the fit at the waist and hips. The lower leg is meant to be roomy.
For a slim leg, ease at the thigh is the real deciding point, more than the waist measurement.
The final check before ordering
Before you confirm, reread three things on the product page: the fit, the inseam length, and the composition. Those are the three most common causes of returns. If a doubt remains, order the size that matches your measurements and try at home, or drop into one of our 23 stores across Québec to settle it in a few minutes.
Frequently asked questions
Should I order my usual size? Check the chart first. Sizing varies from one brand to another.
How do I measure an inseam? On a pair laid flat, from the crotch seam to the bottom of the hem.
Will stretch jeans grow? They can loosen slightly with wear depending on the composition. Washing in cold water helps preserve the shape.
Can I return jeans ordered online? See our returns and exchanges page for the current conditions.
